Richard Stubblefield of Mount Vernon is Chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party. Richard is a retired government teacher from Mt. Vernon Township High School where he was the head advisor to the YMCA Youth and Government delegation. The Youth and Government Program, under his tutelage, wrote several pieces of legislation which were later picked up by local legislators and were enacted into law for the state of Illinois. Richard has been a Republican precinct committeeman for 18 years and has been party GOP chair since November 2000. Stubblefield subscribes to the Ronald Reagan theory of “Big Tent” politics and over the past 8 years has reached out to ALL voters in an attempt to grow the party. He has two grown children and two grandchildren, and he resides with his wife Carolyn at 25 Wildwood Drive in Mt. Vernon. Richard and Carolyn are active in their church and civic affairs.
